My Thoughts: Spider-Man into The Spider-Verse Official Trailer (Spoilers if you haven’t seen it yet)

Hey guys from Planet-M, just thought I’d put up a quick blog this week going over the recent trailer for Spider-man: Into The Spider-Verse and what I think of it so far. The animation style is vibrant and kinetic, it looks like a mix between 2-D images, 3-D characters and Stop-motion for the movement, so I can tell that the animation team that worked on the Peanuts movie are the ones doing the animation for this one, which is allowing for fast, but clumsy kinetic movement which makes sense as from the looks of the film so far it is about a young Miles Morales Just starting out as Spider-Man.

As for the style, it looks a lot like the tell-tale game “A Wolf Among Us” which is good as the its taken advantage of the fact that this is a comic book film, the film even looks like it’s using many important parts of the comic book artform such as word boxes for narration and sound effects emphasised with action.

The character designs are unique for each character as some are exaggerated ways (much like in a comic) which allows for more expression and action and that is something that is important in a Spider-Man film and put that together with the stop-motion look of the movement and it’s going to be interesting watching these characters web swing around New York, it also helps that the artist and co-creator of Miles Morales, Sara Pichelli was brought on as an art consultant for the animation team.

From what I’ve learned about the film so far, I think it will be based on the Spider-verse storyline since the cast includes Liev Schreiber as both Kingpin and Morlun and the film is introducing Spider-Gwen and by the end its basically teased that there are more than one Spider-People out there, but all and all this film looks good so far with its use of the comic book art style and the neon lighting for both the Day Time and Night Time, I can definitely say that this is a comic book film that is taking full advantage of being animated, so who knows Sony’s animation Department might surprise us this time with a fun action packed superhero epic. Thank You For Reading.
