The Last Jedi Review/Spoiler-Free
Hey guys from Planet-M, good to be back for the New Year and I thought I’d start with something different. A few weeks ago I saw Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi and for this week I have decided to put together a quick rundown of what I thought in a spoiler-free review.
Just a reminder that this based on my own opinion and if you like or don’t like the film then that’s ok, this will be a spoiler-free review, so for those who haven’t seen the film yet there won’t be any mention of what happens in the film.
I’m going to start by saying that I liked The Last Jedi, now I know that there are a few plot holes in some cases of the film, but I’m able to over-look them and enjoy the film, I will admit that there are bits that drag on and some parts that don’t really make sense in the long run of the film, but the film is able to introduce a few original ideas while at the same time keep me invested on the future of the franchise.
For acting I have to say that the best acting came from both Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher since they have grown with their characters for years, the new cast have definitely got better since the Force awakens, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega the most, it’s mostly the new characters that bring down the pace of the film.
As for the director Rian Johnson, I think he did a good job, if he hadn’t of done things differently than from what we had expected then we would have been left with an Empire Strikes Back rip-off, he decided to introduce new ideas and had a lot to say and that is how you keep a film trilogy interesting, let’s hope that J. J. Abrams can tie it all together with Episode 9.
All and all this was an enjoyable film with equally bad parts and equally good parts, but at least it’s got the ball rolling on some new ideas for Star Wars and didn’t try to play too safe, frankly after seeing this film I’m glad that Rian Johnson is being given his own Star Wars Trilogy to helm.
Thank You for Reading and it’s great to be back.
