Reviews: X-Men Prime #1 2017
Now then from Planet-M, today I've decided to do a comic review, something I haven't done in a while on a franchise that has always had my favour, the X-Men and today lets take a look of how the X-men are facing the Marvel Universe following the after math of Inhumans VS X-Men in X-Men Prime #1.
Now the comic starts with an excellent throwback to Chris Claremont's writing of Kitty Pryde, at this point Kitty has left the X-men and is then approached by storm and this scene is done well not just by the dialogue but by the art as well. Storm reveals that she intends to leave the X-Men and that she would like Kitty to lead.
This comic is not only to show how the X-men are moving forward, but how all variations of the team are as well as we soon have a scene with Lady Deathstrike and an ominous organisation looking on with their own plans in mind for a few other Mutants.
The story goes on with Kitty reconnecting with the other X-men as she goes through the mansion after being told of the recent events that have took place in her absence and is later met by her old on and off again boyfriend (Piotr Rasputin AKA Colossus) with a full page homage to their history, as the issue goes on it is later revealed that the All New X-men have decided to go out on their own with Jean Grey as their new leader.
The Issue ends with Kitty deciding to lead the X-men into a new future with Storm staying on as her second with the two walking towards the mansion as possibly a metaphor to a bright new future.
I have to say this comic kicks things off rather well as we get to know more about Kitty and her relationship to the X-men and this is definitely good if your a first time reader or interested in reading about Kitty's history with the X-Men, the pacing is done properly with the leadership role being earned with realisation and the story does well as a pilot to set up the rest of the X-men titles to come.
In my own Kitty Pryde is probably one of the best characters to be created in Chris Claremonts run of X-Men and her character has been written well over time, we as the reader have seen her grow from the young new recruit to now the leader of the X-Men and I hope to see her growth in the next step of the X-Men's fight with X-Men Gold. I hope that any X-Men fan will pick up this issue and read it. Thank You for Reading.
