Why You Should Read The Ultimates (Before Its Too Late)
Hey there party people from Planet-M. Now today I would like to talk about one of the best things to come out of the whole All New All Different Marvel fiasco, The Ultimates.
Now don't get me wrong All New All Different Marvel wasn't that much of a failure some series such as this one really do emulate the best of Marvel's old school cosmic adventures such as that of Jack Kirby's Galactus Trilogy or Jim Starlin's Infinity Crusade and show that the company isn't past it's best days, but some of the titles that have been released in the past year alone are on the verge of cancellation and that is about to happen to one of the best series it has written this year.
Now for any of you who are wondering what the status of Marvel is after the events of Secret Wars then this is the book for you written by Al Ewing and drawn by artist Kenneth Rocafort, the book talks of the ultimate cosmic problems in the Marvel Universe and that they are the team brought together to handle them.
The team is composed of some of the most powerful and incredible characters such as Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Blue Marvel, Miss America and Spectrum and this creates a good dynamic as it doesn't just talk about how powerful the characters are, but it goes into the concept of the characters and develops that, how they think and apply their knowledge and power to the situation as they are going into the unknown powers of the universe. Another part of the series is that it is beginning to ask how the Marvel Universe is different after Secret Wars. These adventures and concepts are only amplified by Rocafort's artwork as it gives the story, landscape and even the characters that sense of boundlessness and cosmic lore as he does away with the regular borders and even in some instances strips them away to give the boundlessness of the void around them such as the image below of eternity.
But the best aspect of this Comic is the writing of Al Ewing, he not only elevates the cosmic boundaries of understanding Marvel's whole multiverse, but at the same time shows that we know so little about it and at the same time he deals in his own way the universe events such as Civil War II and uses it to his advantage in his storylines while also asking the important questions such as where is Marvel in it's current state with Meta commentary, what is all new and all different about the multiverse, where does the current Marvel universe stand in its understanding of itself and what is it's place in the current make of things.
