Extraordinary X-Men #4 Things start to come full circle
Now much like the first few issues this one begins with a cryptic dream sequence and then a battle, this one taking place in limbo. The X Men who currently don’t have their teammate Magik (the ruler of limbo) are currently fighting off a horde of possible demons, goblins and other such creatures. In this issue Lemire is in the midst of a battle scene and he has placed in a conversation that is important to Iceman and another mutant about something important, I don’t know if that’s just a joke to place in the midst of this battle, but I hope that this is something useful towards the future of the plot because they are nearly done with this first Story Arc.
The battle rages on until the tide is turned by Wolverine (Old Man Logan), Marvel Girl (Jean Grey) and Forge who has finally gotten the shields up on the entire X Mansion. What is another thing with Lemire is that he has got Storm seeing what could possibly be the ghost of Professor X telling her to keep fighting for their cause and for mutant kind. After the battle we go to a much darker scene as Colossus awakens to find none other than Mister Sinister who goes onto explain that he has been conducting experiments using Terrigen mists to create a stronger mutant more immune to the effects of the Inhuman’s mist and he has been conducting these experiments on various mutants as we later see as his next experiment fails, we then see Nightcrawler ranting on and on, possible an effect of one of Sinister’s experiments that we will go onto to see in the next issue.
Before sinister can go onto to perform his next experiment on Colossus’s sister Magik, he is stopped by Wolverine and the other X Men who have arrived in a nick of time as Sinister unleashes his only successful experiment, a mutant who never died no matter how many times he was subjected to Sinister’s work…Cyclops and our issue ends there with the X Men looking on at their once leader turned enemy once again.
Lemire has nearly reached the conclusion of his introductory arc within the X Men comics and has brought all the character together full circle at Mr Sinister, but I have the feeling that the way Lemire writes will expand this into a bigger picture as Mr Sinister may only be the middle man to a much grander scheme maybe. Involving Mr Sinister is a good way to introduce Apocalypse War in the future, who knows for sure, to which anything Lemire comes up with after maybe could end with positive or negative consequences in the long run of this series and the other X-Men series to come.
What This Could Mean For The Future:
This effect on Cyclops for one could be a major part in the X Men franchise as he has been shown to be brought back from the dead and might continue in his escapades to protect mutant kind in his own way or maybe this could go on to Cyclops killing some of the Inhuman’s who killed him as it was stated that he attacked the Inhuman’s for what was happening to mutant kind and maybe it was the Inhumans who killed him, anyway you look at it he could be good or his own vision of good or maybe he could be under Mr Sinister’s control, wither way Cyclops is back and I would like to see what Lemire plans to do with the character.
The second would be if Sinister is trying to create a cure are we going to see maybe some X-Men morphed by the Terrigen mist to create a combination of Mutant and Inhuman DNA, that still remains to be seen, but Lemire has done a good job with this issue as he is pacing the first story arc by placing subtle hints for the future and expanding the X-Men’s struggle into the Inhuman world, maybe in the future we could see a battle between the two species in order for survival in the future of the X-Men comics.
