Superman No More
Has DC become to interested in selling comics than focusing on the storylines? Today were going to delve into the problems with DC's continuity and current storylines with superman and how the many writers have dropped the ball on it.
First off, the current story in a nut shell is that Superman's secret identity has been revealed to the entire world and if thats not enough his powers have been greatly weakened due to his solar flare ability and is now unable to restore them to their full strength, which is a good idea over, because over the years people have said that superman was always a character that they couldn't do much with and have gone to say that he just complains all the time about not being like everyone else (even though being different is a good thing).
But in this storyline he's been taken down a peg and none of the writers have really pointed this out in anything and that is mainly because he now has no choice but to try and get his powers back because now that his identity is out there his loved ones are now in more danger than ever, which around all of the superman tie in series handles it well.
The problem with this is that the rest of the stories that tie into the superman series are all but of place in the ways of continuity, because ever since DC YOU was announced DC has been focusing more on stories than continuity, but the point of storylines is so they link up and continue the story in aspects along the way, but with DC YOU that gets harder as it is more difficult to tell when one thing has happened and another has just begun, as now many of the stories are now self contained within themselves.
DC YOU is probably the perfect example of poor planning and excuse for random storytelling that doesn't really add much to a plot that people are trying to read at the current moment, superman is probably the best example of this as in action comics it deals with him and the loss of his powers and in the Superman comics he talks about getting his powers back and then joins a wrestling club in order to pay the bills and keep his friends safe from harm, but how does this really keep them safe as the villains will go straight to Clark Kent's friends to ask where he is, so no matter what he does they are in danger because of him, so he needs to focus on getting his powers back instead of getting side tracked by minor issues that will probably take up his time then help get his powers back to full strength again.
